Baby care in The Sims 4 is getting a much more detailed upgrade with the Better Diapers mod from Kenzima. This gameplay mod expands diaper care for Babies, Infants, and Toddlers by adding functional diaper supplies, different diaper options, baby wipes, rash cream, and even diaper-related skin conditions that can affect your little Sims.
Instead of treating every diaper change the same way, Better Diapers gives caregivers an actual routine to manage. Your Sims will need to keep the right supplies available, pay attention to their little Sim’s reactions, and figure out which diapering products work best for them.

Better Diapers Adds Five Different Diaper Types
Better Diapers introduces five diaper options, giving each stage of early childhood a little more variety. There are Standard Disposable Diapers, Sensitive Disposable Diapers, Overnight Diapers, Reusable Cloth Diapers, and Training Pants for Toddlers.
Standard Disposable Diapers are the everyday option and come in packs of 24 for Babies, Infants, and Toddlers. Caregivers need the correct age-specific pack available before changing a little Sim, and each successful change uses one diaper from the supply.

Sensitive Disposable Diapers are designed for Infants and Toddlers with more delicate skin. These also come in packs of 24 and are especially useful for Sims with Sensitive Skin or those who are Prone to Nappy Rash. They are not available for Babies and can help avoid some of the irritation associated with other diaper types.

Overnight and Cloth Diapers Add More Choices
For households that want a diaper designed for longer stretches, Overnight Disposable Diapers are available for Babies, Infants, and Toddlers. Each pack contains 24 diapers and provides a larger Hygiene boost while helping slow down how quickly another diaper change is needed.

Cloth Diapers offer a reusable alternative for all three age groups. Each pack contains six diapers, and unlike disposable diapers, they are one-size-fits-all rather than being separated into Baby, Infant, and Toddler packs. Once the clean supply runs low, your Sims will need to wash them before they can be used again.

Without Laundry Day Stuff, Sims can use a special cloth-diaper washing interaction on a sink. With Laundry Day Stuff installed, Cloth Diapers become part of the household laundry routine, with the clean supply replenished when washed laundry is put away.
Training Pants Give Toddlers More Independence
Toddlers who are starting to work on their potty skills can also use Zibzee Big Kid Training Pants. These come in packs of 12 and are intended as another option during the potty-training stage.

Toddlers can click the Training Pants pack themselves to put on a pair, while caregivers can also ask them to put them on. Using Training Pants does not permanently remove a Toddler from regular diapers, so they can switch between options while working through potty training.

Baby Wipes and Nappy Rash Cream Make Diaper Care More Detailed
Better Diapers also adds Plumbpers GentleClean Baby Wipes and MusteLay Nappy Rash Cream to the routine. Baby Wipes give caregivers another option during diaper changes and can be especially useful when looking after Infants and Toddlers who are Prone to Nappy Rash.

Nappy Rash Cream can be used when a little Sim develops a rash. Infants and Toddlers can react differently to these products, making diaper care feel less like a simple interaction and more like figuring out what works for each individual child.

Buy, Gift, and Store Your Diaper Supplies
Keeping your nursery stocked is also part of the Better Diapers experience. Supplies can be purchased through a Computer, the Diaper Storage object, or the Build/Buy Catalog, while diaper packs can also be given and received as Baby Shower gifts.

Once purchased, supplies can be stored in a caregiver’s personal inventory, anywhere on the active lot, or inside a functional diaper bag kept in their inventory. The mod also includes an override for the diaper wicker storage object, giving players a dedicated way to organize their supplies around the nursery.

This shared storage system is especially handy for households with multiple caregivers. You can keep supplies displayed around the home while still allowing them to be used for diaper changes, and a functional diaper bag can keep everything together when your Sims are travelling.

Better Diapers Gives Infants and Toddlers Individual Reactions
One of the more interesting parts of the mod is that diaper care can affect little Sims differently. Infants and Toddlers can have their own reactions and preferences when it comes to diaper changes, while caregivers can also react when they discover irritation, nappy rash, or other signs that something is bothering their little one.

For Infants and Toddlers, the diaper type chosen during a successful change is also visually applied as a base layer. This means the diaper your Sim is actually wearing can match the type their caregiver selected.

Three Diaper Conditions Can Change Your Routine
Better Diapers introduces three possible diaper-related conditions for Infants and Toddlers: Sensitive Skin, Laundry Detergent Allergy, and Prone to Nappy Rash.

Infants and Toddlers with Sensitive Skin can experience irritation from certain disposable diapers. Sensitive Diapers are the recommended option for these Sims, while Cloth Diapers do not trigger the Sensitive Skin reaction.

Laundry Detergent Allergy works differently. In this case, the problem can come from Cloth Diapers and what was used to wash them. Disposable diapers do not trigger this condition, so switching away from Cloth Diapers can help prevent further reactions.

The third condition is Prone to Nappy Rash. These little Sims have an additional chance of developing nappy rash while wearing Standard, Overnight, or Cloth Diapers. Sensitive Diapers do not add to this additional risk, while Baby Wipes and Nappy Rash Cream can help when caring for a rash-prone little Sim.
Nappy Rash Can Become More Severe
Nappy rash isn’t simply an on-or-off condition in Better Diapers. A little Sim’s rash can become more severe if the things irritating their skin continue, progressing from mild to moderate and eventually severe diaper rash.

That means caregivers will need to pay attention to moodlets and reactions instead of ignoring the problem. Changing the diaper more appropriately, using Baby Wipes or Nappy Rash Cream, and choosing a more suitable diaper type can all become part of managing the situation.

Caregivers Have to Discover What Is Wrong
Better Diapers doesn’t necessarily tell caregivers exactly what condition a little Sim has from the beginning. A condition can be automatically assigned, or players can manually assign one through the Better Diapers cheat menu by right-clicking an Infant or Toddler.

Each Infant or Toddler can only have one diaper condition at a time. When a condition is assigned, caregivers still have to notice the signs during diaper changes and begin recognizing patterns before receiving a notification suggesting what may be causing the problem.

This makes the system feel more like a small caregiving mystery. Once your Sim starts suspecting an issue, you can experiment with different diaper types, Baby Wipes, and Nappy Rash Cream until you find a routine that works better for that particular little Sim.

How Diaper Changes Work
To change a little Sim’s diaper, players can click the Infant or Toddler or use a diaper changing table and select the diaper-care option. The available choices will take into account the correct age or size, whether the required diaper supply is available, and any other requirements for that diaper type.
Disposable diaper changes consume one diaper from the appropriate pack after a successful change. For Infants and Toddlers, the selected diaper is also applied visually as a base layer, so the diapering choice has an effect beyond the gameplay system itself.
Nannies and Butlers are exempt from the personal inventory requirement, so players don’t have to constantly move diaper supplies into the inventories of hired caregivers just so they can look after the little ones.

Better Diapers Requirements and Release Details
Better Diapers requires Lot51 Core Library and Lumpinou’s Mood Pack to work properly, so both dependencies must be installed alongside the mod. Laundry Day Stuff is optional, but it adds extra functionality for Cloth Diapers by integrating them into the household’s laundry routine.
The mod is currently available in Early Access, with the public release listed for October 30, 2026. Kenzima’s page currently lists game version 1.126.58 and recommends checking the requirements before downloading. Since Better Diapers includes overrides for existing diaper-related game tuning, players should also watch for conflicts with other mods that change the same diaper systems.
As always, check Kenzima’s official mod page for the latest compatibility information and updates before adding Better Diapers to your Mods folder.
Final Thoughts
Better Diapers is a pretty big upgrade for Simmers who enjoy family gameplay and want their Babies, Infants, and Toddlers to have more detailed care routines. The combination of different diaper supplies, reusable Cloth Diapers, Training Pants, individual reactions, diaper conditions, and a discovery system gives caregivers much more to think about during those everyday nursery moments.
