If you love making your Sims work for everything they have, the Challenge-Junkie Mod from LittleMsSam is definitely worth checking out. This new mod adds a Challenge-Junkie Personality Trait alongside a brand-new Self-Made Titan Aspiration, giving players a much tougher way to build skills, relationships, careers, and wealth.
The idea behind the mod is pretty straightforward: take away the easy route and make your Sims earn their success. LittleMsSam created the mod as a new challenge for herself, combining a personality trait with an aspiration designed to complement it.

The Challenge-Junkie Mod Makes Success Much Harder
The new Challenge-Junkie trait is available for Teen Sims and older. Once added, Sims with the trait will have their household funds reset to §0 the first time they live alone, making it perfect for players who want to start a true rags-to-riches style challenge.
The trait also slows down almost every major part of your Sim’s progress. Skills and relationships increase at half their normal rate, Satisfaction Points are reduced to 50%, job performance progress is cut in half, and most objects only sell for 50% of their usual value. NPC Sims who randomly receive the trait are not affected by the initial household funds reset.
There are also two alternative versions if the standard Challenge-Junkie trait isn’t quite right for your playstyle. Challenge-Junkie (Easy) uses a 0.75 multiplier, while Challenge-Junkie (Hard) drops things all the way down to a 0.25 multiplier. Only one of the three Challenge-Junkie traits can be added at a time.

New Challenge-Junkie Interactions Give Your Sims More to Do
The mod also adds several new interactions that fit the whole hardcore lifestyle. Sims can Boast About No-Shortcut Achievements and Complain About the Daily Grind when interacting with other Sims, while mirrors offer the new Practice Mental Toughness interaction.
Your Sims can also use computers, tablets, and phones to Research Hardcore Strategies. These interactions are available to Sims with the Challenge-Junkie trait or Sims who currently have the Self-Made Titan Aspiration active.
These aren’t just decorative interactions either. They can trigger two-hour positive or negative moodlets that temporarily make the challenge easier or even more difficult. Sims can also receive similar moodlets when leveling up skills, getting promoted, or losing their jobs, so their success and failures can actually affect the difficulty of their journey.

You Can Adjust the Challenge Through the Mailbox
If the default settings are too intense, LittleMsSam has also included a cheat setting menu accessed through the mailbox while testing cheats are enabled. This lets players disable certain features of the Challenge-Junkie trait instead of having to completely abandon the challenge.
That extra control should come in handy if you like the idea of the mod but don’t want every single difficulty feature active during a particular save. It gives you some room to customize the experience around the type of challenge you’re trying to create.

The Self-Made Titan Aspiration Pushes Sims Even Further
The Self-Made Titan Aspiration is the other major part of the mod. It can be completed with or without a Challenge-Junkie trait, although LittleMsSam recommends using the two together. The aspiration can be found under the Knowledge category and comes with four stages, each containing four goals.
The first stage, The Grind Begins, has your Sim earn §500 through honest work, reach Level 3 in two skills, make two friends, and practice Mental Toughness at a mirror three times. From there, the goals keep getting bigger, requiring more skills, friendships, money, and use of the new challenge interactions.

From The Steep Incline to Trial by Fire
The second stage, The Steep Incline, asks Sims to reach Level 5 in three skills, make four friends, earn §5,000 through their own efforts, and complain about the daily grind three times.
Then comes Trial by Fire, where things get considerably more demanding. Sims need three Good Friends relationships, five uses of Research Hardcore Strategies, §20,000 earned entirely on their own, and Level 8 in four different skills.

Become a Self-Made Legend
The final stage is appropriately called Self-Made Legend, and it really puts your Sim’s progress to the test. They’ll need to reach Level 10 in five different skills, enter a committed romantic relationship, build their household value to §75,000, and boast about their achievements without shortcuts ten times.
Finishing the entire aspiration rewards your Sim with the Indomitable Mind Reward Trait. This makes negative moodlets such as Angry, Bored, Embarrassed, Sad, Scared, Tense, and Uncomfortable decay 20% faster, giving your Sim a permanent reward for surviving the grind.

Challenge-Junkie Mod Requirements and Download
The Challenge-Junkie Mod is available in English, with German also included by LittleMsSam. The mod can be downloaded through the options provided on the creator’s Patreon post, including Google Drive and an alternative CurseForge download.
Before adding it to your Mods folder, make sure you have the XML Injector, which is listed as a required dependency for the mod. As always with Sims 4 mods, it’s a good idea to check the creator’s page for updates and compatibility information before adding it to an existing save.

Final Thoughts
The Challenge-Junkie Mod looks like a fun pick for Simmers who feel like their Sims become successful a little too easily. Between slower skill and relationship gains, reduced earnings, new moodlets, extra interactions, and an aspiration built around earning everything yourself, this could turn a familiar save into a seriously demanding challenge.
If you’re ready to make your Sims start from nothing and actually fight their way to the top, this one is definitely worth keeping an eye on.
