Is There an Actual Resurrect Cheat in The Sims 4?
Frankly, no. There is no resurrect cheat in The Sims 4 and there has never been one. This is a very unfortunate situation for most of us because we like easy solutions for our problems. And if we are being completely honest, Death can be a very annoying problem to deal with in-game, especially if you are not using any cheats.
So, when we are talking about reviving and bringing a Sim back to life in The Sims 4, it’s important to understand that there isn’t an official resurrect cheat provided to us by the creators of the game. And if you are looking for a solution in this guide, keep in mind that the solution may require a bit more work than inserting a simple cheat line.
But, the question still stands – Why is there no resurrect cheat for The Sims 4?
Many experienced simmers and popular Sims 4 players have speculated on this matter. It’s difficult to answer since we have almost no news or feedback from Maxis and The Sims Studio on this topic. And so, all we can do is continue to ride the train of speculation.
Our honest take here is that the developers did not include a resurrect cheat in The Sims 4 with an intention. And as to why that is the case, we will simply say this – they did not want us to eliminate Death from the game.
Think of it like this. If there was a simple cheat line that you can use any time your Sim dies, Death would no longer have any meaning to you in The Sims 4. You would no longer think of it as a looming threat, but a mere side effect that you can erase in a couple of seconds.
Can You Bring a Sim Back to Life in The Sims 4?
Yes! Aside from all the talk about not having an official resurrect cheat in The Sims 4, there are a couple of ways to revive a dead Sim. These include some basic techniques that might be known to everyone. But there are also some that are known to a few simmers and require a lot more work.
Rest assured, here we will give all that help that we can for you to master these methods. And once you repeat them a couple of times, you will learn all there is to know about resurrecting a Sim in The Sims 4.
As far as the actual methods are concerned, we will start with the simplest ones and descend down into the complicated bits. You will be required to work on certain traits and skills in-game, as well as seek hidden items and particular career paths. A few ways of resurrection require you to own one or two packs from the store. But others should only be downloaded from the internet or executed right on the spot.
So even if there isn’t a resurrect cheat in The Sims 4, that doesn’t mean that you can’t revive a Sim and spare them an eternity in the grave! These are a few tricks that we’ve learned over the years and that we all regularly use to not let the Grim Reaper have his way. Here we will talk about all the methods proven to be successful by thousands of simmers worldwide. These include reviving a dead Sim, as well as bringing a ghost Sim back to life in The Sims 4.
So if you’re ready, then let’s get into some tricky work and learn how to do all this in The Sims 4!
How to Resurrect a Sim in The Sims 4?
Not Saving Your Progress
It might not sound like the most profound solution, but not saving your current gameplay is one way of bringing a Sim back to life in The Sims 4. More so, it is the simplest and the fastest way of resurrecting, without doing any hard work. And it is the favorite method for many players, simply because you can do it right on the spot.
For the newer players, this is how this method works. Whenever your Sim dies, you should quickly exit the game to the main menu without saving. Then, you can load your most recent save and continue playing from that saving point.
This will revert the game and all that has happened that resulted in your Sim dying, much like going back in time. As a result, you will be able to make different choices the next time around and stop the Grim Reaper from appearing and claiming your dead Sim.
This method of bringing Sims back to life has many downsides. The first one, of course, is that it isn’t an “actual” resurrection. It is just a simple process of nullifying Death in The Sims 4 by going back in time.
Additionally, you can only use it to revive Sims that have died during your last play session. Any Sim that you’ve lost yesterday or the day before that is gone for good.
The other big problem here is the fact that you lose the rest of your progress. It might so happen that you’ve set aspects. You’ve rearranged your home, and you’ve increased your charisma skill, for example. But if your Sim suddenly dies and you exit without saving, you lose everything that you’ve worked for! If that is the case with you, try out other methods!
Book of Life
Those who have been playing The Sims 4 for a long time know all about The Book of Life. But if you are a new player and unsure of what this item does, just know that it is the primary weapon against Death in this game.
So, what is The Book of Life and what does it do?
The Book of Life is an item that you can get through the Writer career path. It is an actual book that your writer Sim can produce later on in the profession. The Book of Life can be used to resurrect a ghost Sim and bring them back to life. And in this sense, it is as good as a resurrection cheat for The Sims 4.
To get The Book of Life in-game, you’re going to need a couple of things.
First off, your writer Sim must have a level 10 in the writing skill. This usually takes a long time to complete, but if you’re willing to use cheats, you can max it out instantly.
The second necessary thing is to have the “Bestselling Author” Aspiration completed. This Aspiration has 4 milestones, each of which requires you to write and publish books, as well as craft bestsellers.
And lastly, you will need to sit down and write the book on your computer.
Once it is complete, you must bind The Book of Life to a Sim! The good news here is that you don’t have to use the item on your writer Sim. Instead, you can use it on any other Sim. However, you must bind it to them before they die! And once they’re dead, you can “Summon” them back to life. Remember, The Book of Life only works on ghosts!
Here is what the game itself has to say about The Book of Life: “Capture a Sim’s life in an epic poem”. It’s quite obvious by the tooltip that we can use this item to revive a Sim but only if we have their life “captured” beforehand. If you write the book after a Sim has died, you have no chance of resurrecting them with this method.
However, know that you can write as many Books of Life as you want. There is no limitation to the number of copies you can make. And thus you can use The Book of Life as a precaution tool.
For example, let’s say we have a writer Sim living with his family of five. She can write one Book of Life and bind her spouse to prevent losing them forever. Then she can write another one and use it on one of her children. And repeating this process, you can safely store the lives of all your Sims. So when they die and turn to ghosts, you can quickly grant them their lives!
Ambrosia is the second-most popular way of guiding dead Sims back to life. Veteran simmers may remember this item from The Sims 3 which was also included in The Sims 4. It has the same effects as in the past and is the perfect replacement of a resurrect cheat for The Sims 4.
Ambrosia is a food that a ghost Sim can eat to get revived and brought back to a normal state. We’re going, to be honest – Ambrosia isn’t the easiest item to come by. Even if you’re cheating all the way, it still takes a bit of work to create this item.
These are the ingredients for making Ambrosia in The Sims 4:
- Death Flower
- Potion of Youth
If you’ve never had any of these items, this is how to get them.
Death flower is obtained through the herbalism skill in The Sims 4, and more specifically – grafting. Grafting is a technique that you pick up as you level up your herbalism. It’s basically a smart way of combining two different plants into a new and unique one. For a Death Flower, you will need to graft Pomegranate and Orchid. Here is a detailed guide on obtaining a Death Flower through grafting!
Angelfish, on the other hand, isn’t a craftable item. Instead, it is a hidden item that can be found in multiple locations. The most common one is in Willow river, near a boat. There is also a cheat that adds Angelfish to your inventory.
And lastly, the Potion of Youth can be purchased from the Rewards Store. It costs 1500 satisfaction points. However, know that all these ingredients can be acquired through cheating, specifically by using the bydebug cheat!
The one thing that we didn’t mention here Ambrosia needs to be crafted. That means that even if you have all the ingredients ready, you will still need to have your cooking and gourmet cooking maxed out. Luckily, you can use these cheats to increase these skills up to level 10 and create your Ambrosia.
And another thing that you should be aware of is that if you own the Realm of Magic game pack and have a Spellcaster Sim, you can have a way easier time. The reason for it is because you can clone the ingredients needed without doing anything else.
With that, Ambrosia comes very close to a resurrect cheat for The Sims 4!
The Whispering Wishing Well is another sure way of bringing someone back to life in Sims 4. If you’ve never heard of it, that’s because it is a part of The Sims 4: Romantic Garden Stuff Pack. This means that you have to own this stuff pack in order to use this method of resurrecting Sims. But if you already have it purchased, this is what you need to know.
The Wishing Well is a build mode item that can be picked up for 7,775 simoleons in-game. It is a nice looking well, adorned with a statue-face that frequently changes. This face is the key feature of this item, including the process of resurrection.
Sims can interact with the Wishing Well’s face any time and that doesn’t exclude ghosts. However, the Well itself can have a total of 6 different emotional states or outcome possibilities. At any time, your wish may be fulfilled or turned into a curse. And although the outcome is random, you can still influence it by giving more money to the Well or simply making your wish when you know it is Happy.
Here are the possible outcomes of bringing ghosts back to life in Sims 4 with the Wishing Well:
- Overwhelmingly Positive – grants instant resurrection for the ghost Sim and Death immunity for 24 hours (they can only die of old age during that time).
- Positive – the ghost Sim will receive Ambrosia in their inventory which they can use and restore themselves.
- Neutral – the ghost Sim will receive all the ingredients for making Ambrosia instead.
- Negative – rejects your ghost Sim, without giving the money back.
- Overwhelmingly Negative – makes your ghost immune to resurrection for the next 4 hours (you can’t resurrect them during this time).
- Death – grants instant resurrection and Death right after.
The way most simmers use the Wishing Well to their advantage is by reading its face. As mentioned above, the Well can have multiple different moods, ranging from Happy, Neutral, Deadly, and Mischievous. For any of these, there is a matching facial expression that you can easily spot. For example, Happy is a smiling one, while Deadly adds a hood over the Well’s face.
The best tip that we can give you is for you to only make your wish when the Well is happy. This will give you the biggest chances of receiving your wish with the best possible outcome. However, you should know that even when the Well is happy, there is still a 25% chance that the outcome will be neutral, 7% negative, and 3% overwhelmingly negative.
Even if it isn’t the best replacement of a resurrect cheat in The Sims 4, the Wishing Well is still one of the surest ways to revive a ghost. Not to mention that is a very easy process that requires skills or ingredients. Just purchase it from the build mode and wait for the perfect moment to use it!
Realm of Magic
The Sims 4: Realm of Magic game pack introduced a couple of new concepts to the game, together with plenty of magical cheats. It added the opportunity for our Sims to become Spellcasters and to conquer Death as well!
If you didn’t know, there are two key spells that Sims can learn in Realm of Magic to defeat death. One of them allows you to resurrect a Sim right on the spot. And the second one will let you duplicate anything, including the ingredients needed for making Ambrosia.
Here are the two spells and the cheats to instantly learn them, if you haven’t already:
- Copypasto – spells.unlock_spell spells_Practical_3_Duplicate
- Dedeathify – spells.unlock_spell spells_Untamed_4_Resurrect
The usage of these spells is simple. Find the Sim you want to resurrect and perform the “Dedeathify” spell. Or, duplicate the ingredients with “Copypasto” a bunch of times, create Ambrosia and hand it over to your ghost. Note that you need an alive Spellcaster Sim to do all the work here.
The Move Object Cheat
Now we’re closing on the actual cheats that you can use as replacements of a Sims 4 resurrect cheat. And the first one we wanted to show you is the Move Objects cheat.
So this method is a bit tricky, but it works most of the time. First of all, you must have your cheats enabled. That’s done by pressing SHIFT + CTRL + C and typing testingcheats true in the command console. This will let you use the move objects cheat freely.
Next, you will need to add the move_object on cheat line. Once it is activated, you can use it to move anything in your game, including the Grim Reaper.
Here is what you need to do to resurrect someone in The Sims 4 with this cheat.
- 1 Step: Pause your game at the moment when the Grim Reaper arrives to collect your dead Sim.
- 2 Step: Select the Grim Reaper and press the “Delete” button on your keyboard to delete him from the game.
- 3 Step: Click the little “+” on the Sim’s icon to revive your Sim.
And that’s all! It is a pretty simple method of cheating the game itself. Here we literally remove Death from the game. The only difficult part about using the Move Object cheat for resurrection is that you have to be quick enough. This also means that you can’t revive a Sim that has already been taken by the Grim Reaper. Or Sims that have died earlier in your gameplay.
Also, keep in mind that this method won’t work for every type of death in the game. If you want to know more, check out this YouTube video!
The MC Command Center
And last but not least, we have MC Command Center. Using MCCC is probably the easiest and the most reliable way of bringing Sims back to life. This is an actual Sims 4 resurrection cheat that you can always use, with no negative consequences.
If you’ve never heard of the MC Command Center, then you must be living on an island. It is the most complete mod/cheat tool that we have as simmers. We strongly suggest you read this guide before downloading it for the first time. But if you want to quickly revive a Sim in your game, this is what you need to do.
As you may know, the MC Command Center is packed with cheats and tools that let you modify everything in-game. These vary from weather to pregnancy and population settings. Each time you select a Sim, you can open up these controls and alter your gameplay in a significant way.
Now, if you right-click on the icon of your dead Sim, you will be presented with a bunch of options. Here, you can select “Sim Commands” and then “Revive Sim”. This will instantly revive your Sim as if they were never dead.
The greatest part of the MCCC is that you can use it with no limitations. It works for any type of death in the game and on any Sim. It is the ultimate weapon we have against the Grim Reaper, so we suggest you use it!
The MC Command Center is the most effective way to bring a Sim back to life, so installing it will be your safest bet! You can download it from here!
How to Resurrect a Sim in The Sims 4 on Xbox One and PS4?
Most of the methods we explained here work as well on Xbox One and PlayStation 4 as on PC. There is no special resurrect cheat in The Sims 4 versions for the Xbox and PS4 consoles.
The only significant difference is that you can’t use the MC Command Center on any console. We aren’t sure why this is the case, but MCCC is strictly a PC-only tool. It’s a shame because the mod is great, and it’s also the best “resurrect cheat” in The Sims 4 that we have.
As far as the other methods are concerned, including the Move Objects cheat, you can use them the same way here.
Sadly, there are no simpler or quicker ways to revive a Sim. The lack of a resurrect cheat for The Sims 4 is something all players find quite annoying. We have cheats for literally everything else in the game, except for bringing Sims back to life. And yes, there are multiple ways of reviving our characters through regular gameplay. But it is not the same thing!
The best advice that we can give you is to use the MC Command Center. Being a complete feature, it’s the closest thing that we have to a Sims 4 resurrect cheat. It’s a simple, quick, and effective way that always works.
The rest of the options like Ambrosia, Book of Life, and the Wishing Well can also be the right choices for you, especially if you’re keeping your gameplay outside the realm of cheats. Otherwise, MCCC will be the best tool to use!
