The patch (For a game that isn't even in release yet) is to take the
game from 1.0.631.00107 to 1.0.632.00107

The Pirate version is 1.0.615.00107

The fact that it already has a patch is a bit worrisome, but the patch
proves the pirate version is old.

EA have already said the leak was not final, but now we have some idea of how final it was. Still don't understand why there are so many numbers tacked on the end. Wonder what significance it has, since theyre identical.

In any case, this puts the leak 17 builds behind the final release, which in development terms can be a very long time. Maybe the difference between the proposed february release, and the june one.

And yeah, somewhat worrysome that there is already a patch, but at least that proves they're on the case and fixing stuff lol.

Why would a patch be worrisome? Isn't it good that we have something ready at release instead of waiting for a patch and discovering the bugs that it fixes by ourselves?

Well you would *hope* that a release version would be fully tested etc. but I think the sims is such a complicated and interactive game that bugs will sneak in no matter what. They've also had a couple of weeks of testing since the game went gold.

But yeah, at least it shows they're on the case :)

Good for EA!
Plus this means that they're aware there may be some bugs shipping with the game, and they're already making sure the buyers are prepared and won't have to experience them. Instead of letting us play the game and then complain about bugs and them having to come up with a patch. :)

This makes me think moreso that they themselves let the Leak out.
If they already made a patch for a non-released game then it must mean they have been looking at the bugs people have come up with.

If their fixing things then YAY but, I still think maybe they let the Leak out now. :indifferent:

This is actually some good news. It's very possible that the bugs I have seen my self will be gone in the final version. I don't really buy the whole "the leak is missing half the town" bit, but I can atleast realize that it does feel like a pre-release version (not a beta as some keep calling it)

I'm going to export my sims atleast and hope they work ok in the final version. If not I guess I'll have to remake them. I knew that was a posability before I even started the leak up so I was prepared for this before even learning that it might have been different from the final version

If they have a patch already, this simply means that they're probably aware of some bugs that are on the gold version that they weren't able to fix right away if they wanted to make the shipping date. So in the time it takes to mass produce and ship, they prepare a patch ready for it to fix those problems

I don't want to get my hopes up, but I am looking forward to a better working less buggy version

That is a bit risky for the stability of your neighbourhood. Maybe you should try recreating them instead.

The risk might be there, but I don't see too many problems with it. It's kind of the same as exporting a sim in Sims 2, then applying a bunch of expansions and updates and importing your old sim again. There aren't really stability problems with that (atleast none that I have seen). Not to mention many of the sims already in the game have been around since very early builds. I highly doubt they kept remaking thier sims

Finally, now let's see if they'll care with the EPs and SPs(if ever they release them)

You should have no problem importing sims from the leak into the final version. I highly doubt that the save formats changed and it's not like you'll be importing the old bugs too. Just copy over your save file into the new game.

I like your theory about the February v. June. That is very probable.

I KNEW it wasn't the final version. :spin:

Well no, because many files from the leak were made in April.

I think they did this because they knew the game was going to be leaked eventually.

Unfortunately, nearly every major game is leaked a week or so before release. So I guess it's their way of sticking out their tongue towards the pirates, even if eventually the patched will be on torrents.

But a release day patch isn't uncommon, I just like the drama of it all I guess

mmm, I dunno... while the save format may not have changed the sims themselves could have flags or information no longer present, or altered, in the game itself. Though most likely this would just ruin your characters, not your neighbourhood, so I suppose it's worth a shot, but at your own risk :)

It does, but it doesn't feel final, at least not to me. This day in age, especially with large developers, you have many departments working side by side, by progressing at different rates. Art and graphics will always be done before game and AI coders etc.

At Simprograms.com said that's why the game so buggy and has low content in it.

For the low content, I hope it's true. :bouncy:
