My greatest fear right now is that stuff like the hot tub will only be available in the sims store so we'll have to use our points to buy stuff that should have been in the base game lol

I'm a big enough sap that I'll buy any sort of stuffpack they put out, at long as it has a semi-decent asortment of objects... but I really draw the line at the online store. I wasn't fond of the paysites, and although EA certainly has that right, I think it's a cruel trick to play on those of us who want ALL the official content, and something that might come back to bite them. If they would give out a reasonably priced stuffpack with the online store objects in them, I'd probably buy that...

Exactly.. I do admit that i own all Ep's and Sp's. If they'd bring out a stuff pack for TS3, I would definitely buy it..But the store is just out of line.. :grumpy:

Just read on alt.games.the-sims that now the final version of the game has also leaked, this time courtesy of ANOTHER pirate group, flaming the other group, for releasing a beta version. Apparently the new leaked version also downloads and installs the patch.

Now it remains to be seen if they have actually sorted out the problems I had with the first leak... sigh... lol

Now this new leak has got me thinking whether I should download it or not.
But it would take about 3 days to download it... Or more... So I chose not to. The game comes out next week, I can wait a few days. :giggle:

The old version was just that... an old version. Although not terribly old, it was old enough that it will not work with patches and future expansion packs, and it was, HOPEFULLY, not fully functional.

I have to admit I'm nervous about what people are going to find in this new version :s

As for the question to download or not to download... that's for you to decide. If you do, you can probably still switch out the serial code with your real one later anyways, so I don't think it's a huge problem. It's kind of like buying a new TV on credit, isn't it? They deliver it to your house before you actually pay the bill <g>. Although in my case I was actually billed like... weeks ago ;)

Sorry but that song pops in my head with having to wait for The Sims 3.

If the comments I'm seing are anything to go by it seems to be that Sims 3 is still buggy as hell, although not as buggy as before... which is both good and bad.

Bad, because it means we probably have to wait for an expansion to fix up the serious stuff... and good in the sense that at least they're still working on things, and the version I did play was pretty stabile, but, I dunno, mixed feelings for my part. Love Sims 3, hate the bugs and seemingly missing features. Hopefully the big game-breakers are out, at least.

Keep in mind, there's already a patch for it -beyond- the retail version, so don't write it off as buggy, just yet.

True that, and more to come no doubt. A big game with so many features like the sims will always be a work in progress, but still, I am dismayed to hear that it hasn't really been ironed out... this was a huge prob with Sims and Sims 2 and many of their EPs as well... so many interactions, so many things that can go wrong... and so little playtesting on EA's part...

Most reviewers (and by that, I mean the press) don't seem to be encountering many bugs, either. The PC Gamer reviewer went to great lengths to praise the game for its lack of bugs, the only ones he encountered being a party that never ended, even after he sent everybody home, and a bag of trash winding up in his inventory instead of the trash can.

The patch (For a game that isn't even in release yet) is to take the
game from 1.0.631.00107 to 1.0.632.00107

The Pirate version is 1.0.615.00107

The fact that it already has a patch is a bit worrisome, but the patch
proves the pirate version is old.

EA have already said the leak was not final, but now we have some idea of how final it was. Still don't understand why there are so many numbers tacked on the end. Wonder what significance it has, since theyre identical.

In any case, this puts the leak 17 builds behind the final release, which in development terms can be a very long time. Maybe the difference between the proposed february release, and the june one.

And yeah, somewhat worrysome that there is already a patch, but at least that proves they're on the case and fixing stuff lol.

That's interesting, but on my bro's pirate version, the version is 1.0.631.00107. He got his from a private tracker...

Post Re: Sims 3 Patch already! Plus, leak vs. release versions
I can personally confirm that new pirate version is 1.0.631.00107. It was given to me over night (what can I say, I have connections). I can also confirm that all save data from the previous leak works with it, and that most files on the iso are still dated April (some more up to date than the previous leak)

At this point though, it really doesn't matter to have any arguments or debats if it's final or not. It's a week away. A final version will be out there

And btw, there is no hottub. As someone else stated somewhere in a different thread that I don't remember, at a certain point of the game they no longer add content, and that it's crunch time. At the end, they mostly work out bugs. They can't keep adding content to the very end otherwise they'll never get thier bug issues out of the way. There is a certain point where the game is thus complete and bugs must be worked out. That time had passed months ago

The only thing you can expect now is patches to further rid the game of any current bugs (I do not know what bugs might exist in the final version as I haven't done anything with it yet), content on the exchange (free or not) and future expansions that will mostly likely add the content some people were looking for and much much more

Expect the hot tub to end up in the sims store and having to spend the bonus points you get with the game on it...
