Create-A-World, What Will You Create?
Thought I'd start a discussion.
Any special plans? Possible Themes? Are you just going to make the lay out and let the players who download fill it in with houses? Will you design most of the architecture of the buildings?
--
I plan on making it a big project this holiday season. One of my hobbies is graphic design (which the CAW article says you can incorporate your photo/art studios), so I will probably do a lot of different designing. My plan is to select the largest map there is avaliable to build (I don't know if they will come in land sizes). I will divide the land into fourths; 1/4 will be desert themed, 1/4 will be a large busy city with close housing, 1/4 will be a rural area with farmland and spaced out housing, and the last 1/4 will encompass french architecture. Desert themed buildings will be similiar to the Al Simhara. I will do some houses according to the house plans I've printed out and liked to attempt as well as some I found on the sims exchange. I will give credit when I am done to whose houses I've used. For this project, I will use the debug cheat so I can have access to the items and building structures associated with WA. These quarter mini worlds will be seperated by water but can be crossed by the bridges (or you can get rid of the bridges and have totally seperate mini worlds. I also will incorporate China by dressing the mountains similiar to color, structure, and buildings. The whole world will basically be, "A Bit Of Everything" though of course you will have to travel to the destinations to still participate in adventures and to purchase stuff. The only concern I will have is players computers and if the large land map coupled with all the details might run it slower. We shall see!

Re: Create-A-World, What Will You Create?
Im thinking of making your typical view of Hollywood. Long streets lined with palm trees and houses which are in no way space efficient.
And of course im going to have it near the beach so i can have beach front properties.
In whole i want to create a world where there is more housing on the coast, and then large spread out properties in the central part where to give a more city-like feeling. Im a bit over the suburban feel.
I think I'll first try to make a small island, no cars so sims have to move on foot or by bike. I'm not sure about public buildings and work places; maybe just a school, a food store and a book store, but if that turns out to be really inconvenient, I'll add more things. I like some houses in the centre of the town, aound a square or big park. On the edge of the island should be some farms, close to the sea. I want the island to be really green, so lots of trees, bushes and flowers. If I can ever choose a climate, it'll be mild summers and winters, quite some rain but also nice sunny days.
But I also think I'll build/design a village in a dessert with a Mexican style. (And a hot climate would be nice!) Lots of nice homes with pools, lots of open space and some cactuses if that's possible.
Can't wait!

At first, I'll mess around, get used to it. Then, I'll try creating a place on my Sims game called Lime River, and maybe create the whole regional map I made of the town, depending on how big our towns can be.

The maps come in small, medium and large. As stated Sunset Valley is on the large map, so that gives you idea as to what the other sizes will be like.
Also bare in mind that Sunset isn't very populated, a vast amount of area is unused. yet again also remember that the map is only as big as you can venture in game, beyond that is nothingness.

Re: Create-A-World, What Will You Create?
I only plan to modify the current town to allow more and bigger lots for all my downloaded houses. I don't feel like starting my families over in a new nhood
It wouldn't be so bad if there was a way to travel/move from one nhood to another, or to have subhoods like in Sims 2. If we could have subhoods, then I'd go all out and make something spiffy. Maybe sometime down the road when more EPs come out (if they don't break the game first)

I want to create the neighbourhood from The Sims 1. I would also love to create galifrey but not until sombody makes a huge glass dome for the neighbourhoods, Then I can have Time Lord Sims! I'll probably spend a good deal of time just mucking around first though.

Since I'm a beatles fanatic I will create PEPPERLAND with real like houses where the beatles members lived, like Weybridge & tittenhurst where the beatles last photo session and cover for the hey jude album was shot in 1969.
and some other beatles Icons like the zebra cross on savile road london and the abbey road studios and I will finish the movie I started there.

I am going to (hopefully) cleverly plan an enviroment that will incorperate the dessert (with clusters of houses), mountains (with chinese village atop it) and a big green area where will be the main part of the neighborhood. I would create farms. But i'm one for using up all the space given. You should have seen my sims 2 neighborhood Lots were shoulder to shoulder, with not a single free spot. :)

I will start small, to get the hang of the tool first. I will sit and work it all out on paper first, the street plan, etc.
