I could so never play Sims 1 again. o: I just saw some movies of gameplay recently and it was so ugly. The kids never growing up is the worse though. And Unleashed is like a must for playing the Sims 1, for the bigger hood.

I actually just reinstalled Sims 1 on my sister's computer and played for a few hours, and I honestly found it hard to enjoy. I remember LOVING Sims 1 so much, but Sims 2 just makes Sims 1 seem so... dull. People mention the charm and whatnot of Sims 1, which it definitely had, and I did love playing the Superstars and Makin' Magic parts of it, but I just couldn't get into it as much as I ever had with Sims 2.

I still play TS2 As well, Granted I have every expansion+stuff packs.

I remember loving TS1, and following TS2 from the moment it was announced until it came out, the day i brought it home was pure joy to my heart. It added so much from TS1- 3D, aging, i dont have to go over the whole list for you do I?

Every expansion was just as great, adding new elements i thought should be there all along, I had been making fake garages for my sims houses for years when nightlife FINALLY added cars, they didnt really make enough, but that is what CC is for after all.

Then there was TS3, barring the fact that I had already become disenchanted with EA, TS3 looked like the only thing it added were seamless neighborhoods, however it lost many features that were in TS2 expansions, and i wasnt willing to buy 100+ expansions and stuff packs all over again :P I also ended up getting the rest in a huge bundle off EBAY, likely from somebody switching to TS3 lol.

Also you can visit neighbors in TS2+all expansions, just click on houses next to yours and it will ask if you want to go there with your sim :) the only catch is someone has to live there. It isnt completely seamless but a better trade-off than i would get by purchasing TS3 IMO.

also does TS3 even have colleges? that was by far one of the best new ideas in TS2 expansions, why they didnt bring that back in an expansion i may never know.

Nope. D: Saddens me too. I really enjoyed the college experience with sims in TS2. It was just a nice time for to spend focusing on my new heirs and heiresses.

What makes you guys come back after trying the Sims 3?

for me, I like it that:
-- i have every single expansion, and two stuff packs, (well i only have one SP still installed, the other was stupid.)
-- I have more control over my sims and there families because other sims don't age when i'm not playing them, and I don't have to be afraid of my sims in the Nhood randomly moving out and disappearing(unless they fixed that.) There is just so much more control in the sims 2, there are so many empty neighborhoods that you can move your sims into and start a community, and I LOVE SIMS 2 APARTMENT LIFE. Its better than a seamless neighborhood bc your sims are neighbors in the same apartment complex!
-- Its easier to set up one of your families children with children from another family you are creating, even if you have to switch between houses more often.
-- The family tree is better, and i love looking at my family tree.
-- there are more neighborhoods with families that you can play individually and grow up and do what you want with, whereas with the sims 3 you have to pick and choose who to play and control bc of the constant aging of everyone else.
-with apartment life i think... or maybe free time, you can pick a townie to age up with you so you can even have your sim marry an unplayable townie and make them playable!

Idk i'm just a control freak and hate it that so much of the sims 3 isn't done BY ME.

Sims 3's positives
-traits are really fun.
-completely seamless hood
-the garages can be placed at any angle and are normal sized. (the garages in sims 2 piss me off. they are so huge!!! and you can only place them going straight.)

I ALSO can't get into the Sims 3 too. Maybe I should make another thread on this to see how many other people really are like this too. I think the Sims 3 is boring too and I'm trying to pile up info as to why and I'm going to send it to EA games.

I can't get into Sims 3 either. I love Sims 2 and still play it a lot, but 3 just bores the hell out of me.

I play both but mostly Sims 3 now since I am loving the game right now... mostly due to being smoother and what with Generations being just released. Although time to time I play Sims 2... just not as frequently because the main loading screen takes ages... although that's because I have 4GB of CC.

Wow that's awesome to see people that aren't into The Sims 3. I don't know..I've been playing The Sims for 10 years and I loved The Sims 1 and I loved The Sims 2 but....man The Sims 3 is just terrible in my opinion. It's so lame...I thought it was just because I got older. =/

Funny how I made this topic and what I said because now I couldn't ever go back to TS2. The reasons I went back to TS2 over TS3 are mostly gone. There are a few things I never did in TS2 that I always wanted to do but there are TONS of things I want to do in TS3. And I couldn't do without the living neighborhood now. I find it so interesting how I can kick my spares out of the house and they have their own houses, spouses, children and drama. And my sim can leave their house to go visit them. How did I ever do without that in TS2?

LN and Generations pretty much sealed the deal for me. :D

But who knows, I may load up TS2 and play for nostalgia at some point.

I honestly like the graphics in sims 2 better. But, at the same time, i hated how everyything was so perfect. I like the rough edges of Sims 2.

Sims 3 has a different feel than Sims 1. I think that's why I don't like it. I started with Sims 1 and still love it. Just can't get over that I guess.

The Sims was a very quirky and original game, I think it's because it was being made by a relatively small game company and headed by the most awesome man alive. The Sims 3 seems commercialised and kind of like a sellout to me... EA would rather pump out 4 half-assed packs a year than one quality one. The fact that the company is so enormous doesn't help, each specific department seems to have their own ideas for the game which get thrown together messily, wheras for TS1 there was more... interaction between the departments.
The over-use of in-game meme's is getting pretty old as well.
