| A history of Snooty Sims. Where to begin? I could start at any point I guess, but I will start at the very beginning. The history is devided into 3 parts.
The first time I came into contact with a Sim game was Sim City for the Super Nes. When I first saw it in the shops, I didn't think this could be fun. The salesperson however was very enthusiastic about it, and showed it to me. He did some very goofy things like building a road into a river or placing a powerplant next to a hospital.
So ok, I buy it and to my surprise it was the most addicting game I ever played. Countless hours I spent on building the perfect city.
When I bought my first PC, one with no less then 4 Mhz and 1 Mb of Ram (!), I naturally bought a Sim City game. Sim City 2000 and 3000 followed and ofcourse new systems to play them on (I usually buy a new PC every 18 months). I even got the special Sim City Enhanced where real-life actors played the role of fireman or powerplant people.
Now with Sim City 3000 came a small movie about an upcoming game called Sims. I then already foresaw that this game would become huge.
So I bought the Sims and it was even more addicting then Sim City. I played til deep into the night.
There were no downloads yet, no cheats known, no expansionpacks, but what I say often; Sometimes less is more and even til today, I almost miss the simplicity of the first bare game.
I browsed some of the early Sim sites, joined a forum or 2 and landed eventually at mallofthesims.com. It was an early site, they had some downloads, a relatively small forum, but even with that it was one of the largest around. There was quite some competition with The Sims resource actually.
It was a nice place at that time; the people were nice and very helpful.
Then after 6 months or so, I was offered to become a moderator. I gladly said yes and were given about 3 forums to mod. Mostly the smaller forums, but that's just what I liked. My favorite forum was the Expansionpack forum. Because I love new stuff and I found out that I was pretty good in finding new info about them.
Also at one point I started with weekly polls. I am quite a curious guy and always wonder about what people are thinking of certain subjects.
When the Transmogrifier came out, a program to put new objects into the game, I tried my hand at building some. I started with some recolors but soon began with unique objects. I copied all these pictures from 3D objects and then replaced them with the original objects like vases and statues.
As said, there were some items on the Mallofthesims.com site and started my own little place there called; Cloud's Creations (I called myself Cloud Strife on the forums). Also I occasionally updated the site with news.
THEN CAME....
A new webmaster. The old one quit the site and another took over. He wasn't that bad, only he didn't understand the Sims game at all and didn't communicate with the object makers and moderators much. However after a few months, yet another webmaster took over and he was the worst. No communication what so ever but also there were many people who had trouble logging into the site (it became a pay site at some point). We as the moderators and item makers went on strike and when that didn't help, we all left. With no more updates and no more moderators, the site became a ghost town.
So there I was left stranded. No place for my objects, newsposting or even weekly polls. I then started thinking of building my own little site....
